The Magic Numbers

If ABBA be made up of husband and wife team, well The Magic Numbers is about the siblings collaboration (blood is thicker than water eh?).  It comprise two pairs of  siblings - Romeo (the one with the ‘handlebar’ moustache, oh not forgetting he is the main vocalist and guitar), his sister Michele on Bass (yup! a female bass player.. he he) and together with their mates Sean (the beatmaster) and last but not least Angela (melodica, chime bars, tamborine, the complimentary sweet harmonious vocal).

Never judge the book by its cover. Forget about their hippy-flower-power appearance… just listen & enjoy their music instead.  Well, I did.  Ultimate tunes for the nation of the lovestruck, in a broken relationship, forsaken by or pinning for a lover. Hah!

"Soundproof" is a comedy sketch experiments run by ’scientists’ at the Audio Musical Institute (AMI).  I was watching it last night on Channel 4. It was on the topic of Girls Make The Best Bass Players.

Oh this is so hillarious. The theories and the anatomically, psychologically and ’skeletonly’ experimentation that they do in proving the fact really tickles me.  It sums up into 3 categories on why exactly do girls make the best bass player which as follows:

1. evolved
2. sympathetic
3. stable

Evolved - more about anatomy factors like the fingers (strumming wise), body, brain (focusing on so many things unlike the male counterpart), blablabla etc.

Sympathetic - woman can join in with any rhythm (without confusion) i.e similar to multitasking fact.

Stable - Superior feminine balance.  Woman have stable foundation and yet so fashionable.  On the other hand, man is all style but no stability.  Moreover female body are more balance when carries heavy object i.e. when pregnant and playing a bass guitar.
